    Role Overview

    Sarner is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the exhibitions, museums, visitor attractions or experiential fit-out sector to support the commercial management and cost control of multiple projects from pre-contract through to final account.

    This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands the specialist nature of exhibition and attraction projects, including bespoke fit-out, setworks, AV, interactives and specialist subcontract packages, and is comfortable working closely with project management, design, technical and procurement teams to prepare estimates and budgets, manage valuations and variations, administer subcontractor accounts and monitor commercial risk.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Initial project costing and preparation of estimates for tenders and proposals
    • Preparation and ongoing management of project cost plans and budgets
    • Regular budget updates as designs develop and costs are firmed up through engagement with manufacturers, suppliers and contractors
    • Cost forecasting and monitoring of committed, anticipated and actual expenditure against project budgets
    • Cost benchmarking and value engineering to ensure alignment with Client budgets and commercial objectives
    • Evaluation and commercial comparison of tenders and quotations received from potential contractors and suppliers
    • Commercial support during subcontractor and supplier negotiations and appointments
    • Monthly valuation of subcontractors’ and suppliers’ works and verification of progress against applications for payment
    • Liaison with Client-side QSs in relation to valuations and payment applications, including preparation of supporting documentation and substantiation
    • Valuation, negotiation and management of variations, change requests and associated cost impacts
    • Monitoring of commercial risks and identification of potential cost overruns or savings
    • Management and agreement of subcontractor and supplier final accounts
    • Support with project cashflow forecasting and commercial reporting
    • Support with contract administration
    • Support with the preparation and substantiation of loss and expense or other commercial claims, where applicable
    • Commercial support through project completion and final account

    Experience & Skills

    • Proven Quantity Surveying experience within the exhibitions, museums, visitor attractions, experiential, specialist fit-out or closely related sectors
    • Strong understanding of the commercial and cost-management requirements of bespoke, design-led projects
    • Experience preparing and managing cost plans, estimates, valuations, variations and final accounts
    • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
    • Familiarity with key industry forms of contract, including JCT and NEC, would be advantageous
    • Confident working with Client-side QSs, contractors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers
    • Strong Excel and numerical skills

    Role Overview

    Sarner is seeking an experienced AV Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator from an AV integrator background to manage the procurement, testing, logistics, and stock control of audiovisual equipment across multiple projects.

    This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands professional AV systems, enjoys negotiating with suppliers, and is comfortable working closely with engineering and project teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Source and procure professional AV equipment
    • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
    • Raise and manage purchase orders
    • Work closely with engineers to select suitable equipment
    • Receive, inspect, test, and soak test AV equipment
    • Manage returns, warranties, and supplier issues
    • Arrange couriers and manage UK/international logistics
    • Prepare customs and export documentation
    • Label, log, and track equipment and serial numbers
    • Maintain accurate stock control and inventory
    • Assist with loading/unloading deliveries
    • Maintain demo room and assist with setup
    • Keep stock and working areas organised

    Skills & Experience Required

    Essential:

We are looking for someone who will form a close connection with our clients to help both deliver their vision but also exceed their expectations. The role requires creative leadership of project teams that are made up of both in-house and freelance expertise. 

    If you are passionate about immersive design, especially when it comes to using technologies to create new visitor experiences, then this might just be the perfect role for you.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • Minimum 8 years’ industry specific experience
    • A broad range of experiential design skills that include both spatial design and narrative design, and the ability to direct production design, technical design, lighting design and graphic design
    • Strong portfolio of working with leading museums / attractions / brands
    • The ability to develop a narrative visitor journey in both text and visuals, ideally through sketches (hand-drawn, CG or physical models)
    • Evidence of delivery of successful immersive, multi-sensory experiences 
    • An understanding of architectural constraints, and the ability to liaise with architects and other contractors when it comes to designing for a particular space
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and ideally some 3D software

    An ideal candidate would be experienced in deploying and managing resources to ensure that the work process flows smoothly and can act as the primary liaison between the team and the client, alongside the project’s creative lead.     Experience/Qualifications

    • 10+ years of related experience, managing projects and teams on museum and themed attraction projects
    • An in depth understanding of visitor attraction design and build
    • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
    • Prince 2 or similar qualification
    • Experience negotiating project scope, fees, and managing project budgets
    • Experience with the full project lifecycle, through post-occupancy
    • Knowledge of standards and industry practices, including CDM 2015
    • Experience with project management software, such as MS Project, a plus
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

    This role will require you to travel internationally. We will consider proposals from candidates based anywhere in the UK and the EU. This role is suitable for remote working however occasional visits to headquarters will be required to meet the specific demands of the project.
