Prestigious Regiostars prize for Cittadella
Exciting news for one of Sarner's attractions in Malta - the restoration of Gozo's historic Cittadella has been awarded the prestigious Regiostars prize.
The Regiostars Awards, organised every year by the European Commission, are Europe's label of excellence for EU-funded projects that demonstrate innovative and inclusive approaches to regional development. The restoration project at the Cittadella was chosen from among 300 projects co-financed from European funds.
As part of the project, an ancient fortified city on the island of Gozo, Malta, was restored with the support of EU co-funding. Today the new visitor centre and improved accessibility help to attract more tourists to this impressive landmark, the full potential of which as a tourist destination used to be largely untapped.
