Sarner is creating a major immersive heritage attraction for the National Trust
Sarner have won the tender to design and deliver a new major immersive heritage attraction at the National Trust’s Bath Assembly Rooms, taking visitors along a dynamic journey through the rich, multisensory life of Georgian Bath.
For over 250 years, Bath Assembly Rooms has attracted people from across the globe as the social heart of a world-famous city. When completed in 1771 they were described as 'the most noble and elegant of any in the kingdom’ and were the perfect venue for the fashionable Georgian society, visited by the leading figures of the age including the composers Handel and Haydn, and authors Samuel Johnson, Charles Dickens and Jane Austen who included the Assembly Rooms in some of their most famous novels. Now the Assembly Rooms will be reinvented and re-imagined to share the history of the place and reveal the important role they played in society, in a way that will entertain and intrigue 21st century visitors.
Local community engagement is critical to the project, and the attraction will be open and diverse in its inspiration and involvement. The income generated by the reinvented Bath Assembly Rooms will help to support conservation work at other nearby National Trust places, including the 500 acres of countryside that help to provide the green setting for the City of Bath.
