Odyssey triumphs at AV Awards 2025

Odyssey Malta, the country’s first flying theatre and an immersive attraction designed and delivered by Sarner, has won the “Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year” at the AV Awards 2025.

This recognition celebrates the project’s outstanding achievement in merging storytelling, cultural heritage, and advanced audiovisual technology to create a one-of-a-kind visitor experience.

A Journey Through Malta’s History

Located within the iconic Mercury Towers in St Julian’s, Odyssey Malta takes guests on a captivating journey through the rich history of Malta - from prehistoric temples and maritime empires to the nation’s modern identity.

The experience begins with an immersive dark walk, where visitors explore a series of environments enhanced by projection mapping, atmospheric sound, and multi-sensory effects. The journey culminates in Malta’s first flying theatre, where guests soar across the islands on a six-degrees-of-freedom motion platform, experiencing the sensation of flight complete with wind, water, and scent effects.

Creativity Meets Technology

The project was a collaboration between Sarner and Simtec Systems, combining Sarner’s creative and interpretive design expertise with Simtec’s world-leading motion simulation technology.

The AV Awards judges praised Odyssey Malta for its exceptional integration of AV technology and storytelling, recognising it as a standout example of how immersive media can transform cultural engagement.

Blending creativity, technology, and environmental responsibility, Sarner delivered an immersive project distinguished by precision engineering and intelligent show control. The judges highlighted its refined design, sustainability focus, and the memorable experience it delivers to every visitor.

This accolade reinforces Sarner’s reputation as a leader in immersive and themed entertainment design, known for creating experiences that inform, inspire, and entertain audiences worldwide.
