Sarner’s Projects Triumph at the Malta Tourism Awards 2025

Dominating the highly competitive Best Visitor Attraction category, Sarner projects claimed three of the five awards - an outstanding achievement.

Awards

The Responsible Tourism Development Awards 2025, organised under the Malta Tourism Observatory framework, recognise outstanding tourism products that demonstrate innovation, sustainability, digitalisation, and long-term value for the visitor economy. Among the most competitive categories is Best Visitor Attraction, highlighting experiences that successfully combine storytelling, education, and modern visitor engagement.

Sarner projects secured three of the five wins in the highly competitive Best Visitor Attraction category - an outstanding achievement.

Odyssey Malta (Winner – Best Visitor Attraction 2025)

Located within the landmark Mercury Towers development in St Julian’s, Odyssey Malta was named the winner of Best Visitor Attraction 2025 and represents one of the most ambitious immersive experiences in the region.

Designed and delivered by Sarner in collaboration with advanced ride technology partners, Odyssey is a multi-sensory cultural journey through Malta’s history and landscapes, combining narrative storytelling with cutting-edge immersive technology.

The experience begins with a multi-layered dark walk, guiding visitors through environments that trace Malta’s story from prehistoric times through key historical eras.

The highlight is Malta’s first flying theatre ride, which allows visitors to soar above the islands in a cinematic experience that blends motion, visuals, and storytelling. The attraction merges education and entertainment - often described as “edutainment” - and is designed to appeal to a wide international audience.

Odyssey has received multiple international accolades, including recognition at the AV Awards 2025, where it was named Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year, highlighting its innovation in immersive attraction design.

The Farsons Brewery Experience (Runner-Up)

The Farsons Brewery Experience represents a different facet of Maltese visitor attraction design, focusing on industrial heritage and brand storytelling. Built around one of Malta’s most iconic breweries, the experience transforms a working industrial site into an engaging visitor journey that explores the island’s modern social and cultural history.

The attraction is designed to take visitors behind the scenes of Malta’s brewing heritage, combining historical narrative with interactive exhibition design. Rather than simply presenting production processes, the experience frames the brewery as part of Malta’s evolving identity - linking product, place, and people.

Through curated spaces and interpretive storytelling, visitors gain insight into both traditional brewing methods and the evolution of Malta’s most recognisable beverage culture.

Fort St Elmo & National War Museum (Runner-Up)

Perched at the tip of Valletta’s peninsula, Fort St Elmo & the National War Museum is one of Malta’s most historically significant heritage sites. Originally a star fort, it has been transformed into a layered interpretive experience that tells the island’s military story across centuries.

The attraction covers pivotal moments including the Great Siege of 1565 and Malta’s crucial role in World War II, when the island was awarded the George Cross for bravery. Through a combination of restored architecture and immersive media, visitors move through underground spaces and exhibition rooms that bring these events to life.

The Best Visitor Attraction 2025 showcases Malta’s growing leadership in immersive cultural tourism. From the historically grounded storytelling of Fort St Elmo, to the industrial heritage interpretation of Farsons Brewery Experience, and the high-tech experiential storytelling of Odyssey Malta, each attraction demonstrates a different model for engaging modern audiences.
