Valhalla is a one-of-a-kind, £15 million, high speed dark-ride attraction at Blackpool Pleasure Beach themed around the immortal resting place for Viking warriors. Alongside the pitch black surroundings, the attraction features heaps of special effects including fire, water, snow, thunder and lightning to put even the bravest souls to the test. Temperatures during the ride plummet to minus 20 degrees celsius in some parts, shooting up to 110 degrees celsius in others. Some of the special effects used have never been used on an amusement park ride before. The ride has been crowned the winner of The World's Best Water Ride at Golden Ticket Awards for five years in succession. Valhalla also holds the title of the world’s largest indoor ride.

Our solution

Valhalla is a landmark ride, combining a white-knuckle flume with the theatrical dynamics of audio visual sequences to add story to the experience. Throughout the ride, riders experience fire, water, snow, thunder, lightning and extreme temperatures.

In practical terms, this ride is a huge feat of engineering; the water flume recycles more than 100,000 gallons of water a minute which is used to propel up to 2,000 riders per hour. Approximately 35,000 cubic feet of gas an hour is used to provide the flame effects.
